consequences

yesterday when ian & i got back from exercise, umi (our part-time helper) told us that the kids had eaten monster cookies - that is, 3 cookies each. that is: my children ate a dozen cookies.

i thanked umi for telling us; she is not responsible for my children's disobedience - especially when they knew better. all the kids knew that the cookies were for post-lunch/supper dessert only...

bernadette was immediately remorseful when we confronted the children - but not before she blamed raewyn for leading them down the path of destruction. hm. and while we were talking to the kids, i noticed that myrddin was idly working on the laptop -- which was also a violation of our house rules. we have told the children clearly: they may not play on the laptop - unless we give them special permission otherwise - when we are away in the mornings. [this helps cut down on fights & arguments while the kids are under umi's care.]

so, we told the kids: no computer for the rest of the week. and no more monster cookies for the rest of the week. the children also had to apologise to ibu (title of respect for umi) for deceiving her into giving them cookies when they knew it was forbidden.

that kind of set the mood for the day. or maybe it was the dozen monster cookies enriching the blood streams of 4 children. regardless, the kids were a handful yesterday. that was kind of depressing.
